“I started with John as a 14 year old Saturday girl.

I left school at 16 to join the John's Barbers team. I have now been here 26 years working alongside John.

Over the years I have worked with and met many interesting people - new born to very elderly. Each with a glimpse of their lives that they share with us.”

“I originally worked with John and Alison in the golden days of the eighties, having started as an apprentice in 1985. You may remember the crazy gang which also included Dean, Jimmy and Debbie (Debbie had the amazing curly yet spikey red hair!).

I left John's in 1997 after completing a degree in History at the University of Manchester and spent many years working around the country in software; working with young people (young carers), and also working on a national carers project for the Department of Health.

In 2014 I returned to John's Barbers providing temporary cover, and I am now back full-time working alongside Alison and John.

It is wonderful to be back after a long break from the shop; and it's great to catch up with some familiar faces and at the same time to meet a lot of newer customers.”

"I also originally worked with John, Dean, Debbie, Mark and Allison in the golden days of the eighties, having started as an apprentice in 1985.

I left John's in 1999 to become the Internet and Mail Order manager for a local sport and schoolwear company, but I have spent the majority of the intervening years working for Insurance companies as a sales consultant.

When John retired following his knee surgery in 2015 I answered the call of the Barber shop and returned working at Johns on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with Tuesdays reserved for home visits for those clients that find it difficult to get into the shop.

It feels great to be back working with the old team."
